Traditional music tuition approaches provide students with individual instrumental skills however they rarely teach students how to perform collaboratively with other musicians.

 

The ROCK IT Academy combines instrumental instruction with group rehearsals and live performances to develop essential band and industry skills.

  • Weekly 90 minute sessions plus performance opportunities.
     

  • Term based curriculum with targeted learning outcomes in songwriting, recording, performance and musicianship.
     

  • Led by two qualified music teachers and industry professionals with national experience in songwriting, recording and performing.
     

  • Focuses on the social and emotional aspects of being a musician in a band.

The teachers

REuben

Guitars/Vocals

Reuben is an established singer songwriter who has performed his own songs on tours nationally and internationally, as well as live on television aired across multiple countries. He is currently signed with Circa 41 agency and works as a professional musician locally and interstate.

He has recording experience in studios across Australia as well as in LA, working with numerous session musicians and award winning songwriters and producers on his own records and the work of others.

Reuben holds a Bachelor's degree in Primary Education and works as a full-time Music Teacher in a local primary school.

He has also conducted his own private guitar and vocal tutoring for a number of years, as well as creating and delivering youth music programs through local organisations.

  • How do I become involved in ROCK IT Academy?
    Each year we have an intake of new students, contact us through the website and we will be in touch.
  • How old to you have to be to join?
    ROCK IT Academy is aimed at upper primary and early highschool students.
  • Where do we meet and for how long?
    Sessions are conducted in Riverside, Tasmania and are weekly during the term for 90 minutes after school.
  • Where will I get to perform?
    Students will get to perform at prominent venues/events in Launceston.
  • How much does it cost?
    The ROCK IT Academy costs $65 a week, invoiced at the start of each school term. This includes the weekly 90 minute session with two teachers, extra-curricular performances and materials.
